Jeff Frost is a contemporary artist from southern California currently in the MFA program at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. His work reasserts connection to landscape through technologically mediated means within an expansional definition of a word that should not be: nature. Think of it as science fiction for trees. Within this framework Frost’s explorations of identity, ritual, death, grief, and ecology are explored through two primary mediums: time and sound, which extend into many secondary mediums: installation, mural, painting, photography, sound art, and music. Threaded together these strands form uncanny cinematic moving image works greater than the sum of their parts that defy easy explanation.
Frost’s work has appeared in museums, exhibitions, film festivals, and publications worldwide, including Clermont Ferrand Intl Film Festival (Audience Award for California on Fire), Mana Contemporary, Palm Springs Art Museum, Artnet, Art Forum, Deir Speigel, CERN, MIT, Forestry England, National Geographic, and many others.
